whole point of woman-centered birth is the knowledge that a woman is
the birth power source. She may need, and deserve, help, but in essence,
she always had, currently has, and will have the power."
We are so excited to bring gentle and evidence-based care to families during the most sacred times in their lives. Every mother and baby is a unique individual, and our attention to relationship sets us apart from other care providers. We are staffed by three Certified Professional Midwives, who are also Licensed Midwives in the State of Wisconsin. The midwives are childbirth educators and have combined experience of over 800 births and over 20 years in childbirth care. We employ professional and experienced birth assistants to accompany the midwives at birth. We are excited for you to meet our team!
Andi Raine, LM, CPM, CBE, owner
Andi Raine first became interested in midwifery as a child after her two sisters were born at home with midwives, and she was present to witness their births. After having her own first baby in the hospital, she felt that it was her mission to bring gentle and respectful birth experiences to more women and their babies. She attended some years of college with a focus in nursing, but ultimately transferred to a program to pursue a career in out-of-hospital midwifery, attending the Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute, and apprenticing with two midwives. During that time she gave birth to two more children in her home. Andi enjoys her experience and continues to seek education in normal variations of childbirth including breech birth and twins, and additionally pursues expertise in breastfeeding support.
Andi has been attending births for 12 years and has attended over 500 births. She and and her partner, Jon, are excited to be expecting a fourth child in May of 2013. When she is not busy catching babies, she loves spending time with her family, cooking, and singing.
Anja Farin, LM, CPM, CBE, owner
Anja's journey to midwifery began with the pregnancy and birth of her oldest child in 1992. As many women find, their focus during their first pregnancy shifts to a healthy lifestyle, and Anja began learning about nutrition and alternative healing as part of her mission to raise a healthy, resilient family. In 1997, Anja began serving birthing families as a childbirth educator and doula. Anja earned her midwifery license in 2010, and has attended over 200 births. She finds pregnancy and birth infinitely fascinating and awe-inspiring, and the topic continues to inspire on-going learning and research. Alternative healing modalities continue to interest her as she seeks ways to naturally support the body's healing powers with essential oils, herbs and homeopathy, and other traditional healing ways.
Mother of four, Anja stays busy in her free time knitting and supporting her kids in their interests of music, art, and dance. She lives in Appleton with her husband, David, who has enthusiastically supported her midwifery career.
